On Tuesday, the new cash-rich tournament – where the winner takes 25 million kronor – presented that the Damallsvenskan top club Rosengård is one of eight clubs competing for the championship.
The tournament dates are between 21–23 May.
However, on the 24 May, the Malmö club has a match with Häcken in Damallsvenskan. A match they have tried to reschedule due to participation in the tournament.
We have been in contact with Häcken, who of course absolutely thought we should take part. So we are working on rescheduling the match, Rosengård's chairman Håkan Wifvesson told Sydsvenskan on Tuesday.
"Does not agree with that"
Häcken, on the other hand, means something else – and now tells GP that they have not agreed to the proposal after having a dialogue with Rosengård.
We came to the conclusion that BK Häcken does not agree to reschedule the match, but that they will make a request to the association in that matter, says Häcken's club manager Marcus Jodin to the newspaper.
He further means that the dialogue between the clubs has been good.
Even though we don't see it the same way, there was a good tone with respect for each other. We respect that they want to go and play the tournament and wish them all the best, but that doesn't mean we want to compromise on our own operations and our planning. That's where we landed.
Request to the association
If Rosengård still wants to reschedule the match after the meeting with Häcken, they will have to submit a request to the association's competition committee, which will make a decision. If there is a reschedule, it's something one will have to "accept", means Häcken's sports director Christian Lundström.
The Malmö club's decision to participate in the tournament and reschedule the Damallsvenskan match has stirred up strong reactions. Not least from Hammarby's technical director Adrian von Heijne.
It's directly unrealistic, of course, he said to Aftonbladet on Wednesday.
