The Norwegian star striker appeared to twist his left ankle in a duel with Lewis Cook. After receiving treatment, Haaland attempted to return to play, but immediately after a run, he began to limp and was subsequently substituted out after an hour of play.
Earlier in the match, Haaland had both missed a penalty and scored a goal.
The goal meant 1–1 at the beginning of the second half and marked the start of City's turnaround. Omar Marmoush – who replaced Haaland – then scored the winning goal, 2–1, after only being on the pitch for a few minutes.
Manchester City were drawn to meet Nottingham in the semifinal. The other semifinal is played between Aston Villa (3–0 against Preston on Sunday) and Crystal Palace.
The semifinals are played at Wembley, on the weekend of April 26–27.
