After Bukayo Saka had beaten the Fulham defenders, Gyökeres easily slotted the ball into an open goal in the ninth minute. With just seconds left in the first half, the Swede then headed in the final goal to make it 3–0. By then, he had also set up Saka's 2–0 goal.
Gyökeres was then substituted in the 64th minute, leaving no Swedes on the field for another 14 minutes. Then Fulham brought on Jonah Kusi Asare.
Arsenal lead by six points ahead of Manchester City, who have played two fewer games.
