"Extremely disappointed. A slap in the face. Now it's about how we react to this," Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta told TNT Sport.
With six league games left to play, Arsenal are on 70 points – nine points ahead of Manchester City, who have played two fewer games. The second-placed side faces Chelsea away on Sunday.
Next weekend – Sunday 19 April – Arsenal and City will meet in Manchester. Before that, a return match awaits on Wednesday at home against Sporting in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Arsenal won 1-0 in Lisbon.
"It's an important week. There's a lot at stake. We still have good starting positions in both competitions, but we have to do better. That's one thing for sure," Arteta said.
Recently, Viktor Gyökeres sent Sweden to this summer's World Cup with his decisive 3-2 goal in the playoff final against Poland - before that, the 27-year-old had scored a hat-trick in the semi-final against Ukraine.
At home against Bournemouth in the Premier League, Gyökeres equalized to 1–1 with a penalty in the 35th minute after Bournemouth's Ryan Christie handled the ball.
Before that, Eli Junior Kroupi gave Bournemouth the lead in the 17th minute.
In the second half, Arsenal chased their 22nd win of the season, but ended up losing. With just over a quarter of an hour left in regulation time, Alex Scott scored the winning goal for mid-table Bournemouth.
