No one was physically injured, but of course it's traumatic to wake up to, says the police's press spokesperson Patric Fors.
The same apartment was shot at on September 2, two days ago. The police are investigating whether there is a connection between the events, says Fors.
We are doing that, of course. It's too early to say anything about it. It's easy to think that it should be connected. It's important to have an open mind and investigate as broadly as possible.
Several callers reported loud bangs in the area at 5 am on Thursday morning. When the police arrived, they could quickly determine that someone had shot into the residence, and several bullet holes were found through a window. Two people were in the apartment.
The individuals, both adults, have been interviewed by the police and neither of them is said to be injured. A cordon is in place and forensic technicians are on site. The police are also going door-to-door in the area.
We will also be searching the area with a weapons dog, to see if we can find any technical evidence. We have made some findings, says Fors.
During the morning, Malmö city has spoken with residents in the area, says Maria Lundqvist, the municipality's crisis support coordinator.
Just this was a villa area, which is a bit different. The most important thing is to be on site if someone is in need of crisis support. It can evoke feelings of powerlessness like "should I live here"?
There are no suspects at present.
