AIK enters the Allsvenskan football season without John Guidetti - he is instead a new expert on TV4.

The former attacking midfielder retired after last season and believes that AIK must decide on a direction and stick to it.

He says that a title every ten years means nothing:

"Now AIK will probably never be as good as Real Madrid, but if you look at how it's set up - that it doesn't matter who leaves or who comes, it will always work out," says John Guidetti.

“Understand the network of contacts he has”

If Guidetti were the sporting director at AIK, he would have done everything to ensure that profiles like Sebastian Larsson and Mikael Lustig did not leave the organization after they hung up their boots.

"You have to use their network of contacts and their people. You have a guy who has played in the Premier League for any number of years - you just have to understand the network of contacts he has," says Guidetti, and continues:

"Look at what he can contribute to young players; experience that is needed when things get tough. He has been through it all."

However, he praises AIK's decision to bring Alexander Milosevic into the organization as a scout and recruitment manager for the academy.

Hand grenades at Karlberg

Guidetti has played for clubs such as Celta Vigo and Feyenoord - two teams with completely different financial resources than AIK.

Football works differently abroad than in Sweden - but he thinks AIK should have its own training facility and an arena that the club owns - a decision that should have been made from the beginning.

"When you sit here in 2026 and sometimes have to cancel training so the army can train and throw hand grenades, or they hold an internal football tournament at Karlberg, I don't think that's worthy of AIK, their supporters or everything the club stands for and how big it is."

When asked which Swedish club is the most well-run, the answer came quickly.

"It's Malmö, and you can see that in the results. It's no coincidence that they own their own arena and have strong revenues so they can sign more players. Good training conditions - and they can train on both artificial and several grass pitches."

AIK will host Halmstad in the Allsvenskan season opener on Sunday.
