It is unlikely that the United States will use military force to take over Greenland, Greenland's government said at a press conference.

According to Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen, Greenland must still be prepared for that scenario because "nothing is ruled out."

"The leader on the other side, US President Donald Trump, has said very clearly that it is not out of the question, and we should of course be prepared for all possible scenarios."

Nielsen emphasizes increased cooperation within NATO and says there is "no doubt" that a "larger military presence in Greenland and the Arctic is needed."

Múte Bourup Egede, Minister of Finance and former prime minister, also emphasizes the importance of not ruling anything out.

"We need to be prepared for even more pressure."

According to the former head of government, who handled the crisis that arose in connection with Trump's statements about Greenland in early 2025, the conflict is palpable in society as a whole.

"Everyone is emotionally affected."
