The KU review was paused in spring 2025 pending the legal proceedings against Landerholm.

"The Swedish people still have not received an answer about what the Prime Minister knew and when. The Social Democrats now want to build a majority in the Constitutional Committee to resume the review that the Tidö parties have blocked," says Jennie Nilsson (S), deputy chair of the Constitutional Committee, in a written comment to TT.

The Green Party also wants the KU to resume the review.

"For several years, the Tidö parties have blocked the investigation into suspected corruption and a cover-up to protect a friend. Now there is a new majority that should urgently summon Kristersson to the committee," writes Green Party group leader Annika Hirvonen in a comment to Dagens Nyheter.

Mats Green, the Moderates' group leader in the Swedish Parliament, says there has long been agreement in Parliament to pause reviews while legal proceedings are ongoing.

"There is currently no final judgment. Once there is one, the Constitutional Committee's review should of course resume. This is a desperate move by the Social Democrats and the Green Party. We cannot have a system where the Constitutional Committee changes its principles because the Social Democrats and the Green Party want to turn legal proceedings into a political game and divert attention from their failed government formation."

Landerholm has been a longtime friend of Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and was handpicked for the security adviser position after the 2022 election.
