The EU member states approve Sweden's plans for the money from the EU's large coronavirus fund, RRF.
The decision was made at the EU countries' finance minister meeting in Brussels on Tuesday. This means that approximately 40 billion Swedish kronor will become available to Sweden. The first payments are expected to take place at the beginning of next year.
This is an important message and it is good for Sweden. Sweden has been paying for this and now we are getting some of the money back, says Financial Markets Minister Niklas Wykman (M), who represented Sweden at Tuesday's meeting.
The coronavirus fund has been created through joint borrowing to help EU countries get the economy going again after the pandemic years 2020-22.
