Today, participants in labor market policy programs can receive only a warning for the first violation.
Every year, the Swedish Public Employment Service issues thousands of warnings, says Minister of Labour Johan Britz (L).
From April 1 this year, the government wants to tighten the sanctions so that anyone who ignores their program will lose compensation, that is, activity support, for five days.
If it happens a second time, the support will be withdrawn for ten days and for a third time for 45 days, compared with today's penalties of one and five days respectively.
The government also clarifies that the same rules apply to education a participant has registered for themselves, for example SFI.
The lowest daily allowance in activity support is 365 SEK.
