The government has produced a legislative proposal, which will be presented at a press conference by Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer (M) together with the other Tidö parties.

The government is speeding up the legislation, which is now scheduled to be introduced on July 15.

"We will now be the first in the EU with this kind of legislation," Strömmer says.

"Tardy"

The Social Democrats have criticized the government for being late to act on the new rules because summer is an especially high-risk period for recruiting children during summer holidays.

"I welcome the ban on gang murder ads, but regret that it has taken three years. The government is repeatedly late in taking measures to stop new recruitment," says Teresa Carvalho, legal policy spokesperson for the Social Democrats, in a written comment.

The EU recently gave the go-ahead for Sweden to present these rules.

The law aims to make it more difficult for gangs to recruit children via social media.

Death lists

"A common example is the dissemination of so-called kill lists, where assassination missions are advertised. The platform that receives an injunction must remove this recruitment advertisement as soon as possible and no later than within an hour," says Martin Melin, legal policy spokesperson for the Liberals.

The fines for platform companies can amount to five million kronor.
