This will be the second step that this government takes to reform the coastal protection.

The first step, which included proposals for relaxation of the coastal protection, was presented at the beginning of the year and will come into force on July 1.

More people should have the opportunity to live and live near the water. The purposes of the coastal protection remain, but the emphasis in the balance should be shifted in favor of more freedom, says Pourmokhtari.

It is important to note that the work with the investigation should be based on the fact that areas with high natural values should continue to have a strong protection and be accessible to the public.

According to Andreas Carlson (KD), Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, the investigator should propose proposals that strengthen local influence over the coastal protection.

The investigator should propose a completely new model where municipalities should be able to decide at which coastal stretches, lakes and watercourses the coastal protection should apply entirely or partially. In areas with exceptionally high pressure to exploit, such as areas where there are special reasons, the coastal protection should, however, continue to apply unchanged.
