It is the first direct train connection between Norway and Denmark in over 20 years, the Ritzau news agency reports, and also the first announced direct train between Gothenburg and Berlin.
The initiative is a collaboration between Vy, Danish DSB and Deutsche Bahn.
"The collaboration with DSB and DB means that we are linking Scandinavia closer to Europe - and in the long term this could open up direct trains to more European cities," says Vy's CEO Gro Bakstad in a press release.
Two daily departures are planned all year round. According to Vy, the Oslo–Berlin route will be one of Europe's longest train routes, with a travel time of approximately 14–15 hours.
