The 20-year-old man was shot outside his home in Alby in southern Stockholm on February 24 of this year. The 18-year-old allegedly agreed to carry out the murder in exchange for payment from a criminal network, but the man who was murdered was not the intended target, according to Södertörn District Court.
The 18-year-old had himself sought permission to carry out an assassination mission.
"The perpetrator has also shown incredible coldness and brutality because he first shot the victim from a certain distance and then walked forward and fired additional shots, including in the back of the head," says Councilor Fredrik Nydén in a comment.
The man turned 18 just a few months before the murder.
"Although his youth should of course be taken into account, the district court has found that the crime has such a high penalty value that a penalty other than life imprisonment cannot be considered," says Nydén.
The fact that the crime was committed within the framework of a gang conflict should, according to law, be considered a particularly aggravating circumstance, the court emphasizes.
A 17-year-old is also sentenced to three years of closed youth care for aiding and abetting.
