The number of reports of "non-cooperative" drones over critical infrastructure and military facilities has increased, the department writes in a statement where espionage or sabotage are cited as recurring possible explanations.
Currently, the military can assist the police in forcing a drone to change direction or land, threatening to shoot it down or firing warning shots.
The bill must be passed through parliament to come into effect.
