The message comes just a week after the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AFD) was classified as far-right by the BFV, one of Germany's three federal intelligence services.
Shortly after the classification, AFD appealed the decision. The classification is now paused while the legal proceedings regarding the appeal are ongoing, writes Politico.
In the meantime, they are being stamped as a "suspected case", a lower level of classification that still allows monitoring of the party – but under stricter legal supervision.
The xenophobic and Russia-friendly AFD became the second largest with 20.8 percent of the voters' votes in the German election in February.
