Inflation in Germany was unchanged at 2.1 per cent in May, according to preliminary calculations made by the statistical office Destatis. This was in line with expectations.
This can be compared with 2.1 per cent in April and expectations of an unchanged inflation rate in May, according to the news agency Bloomberg.
According to the EU-harmonized inflation measure, inflation in Germany fell in May to 2.1 per cent.
This can be compared with 2.2 per cent in April and an expectation that it would fall to 2.0 per cent in May.
Compared with the previous month, German consumer prices rose by 0.1 per cent in May, compared with 0.4 per cent in April and an expected increase of 0.1 per cent in May.
