For the German manufacturing industry, the purchasing managers' index for June rises to 49.0 – the highest level since August 2022. It can be compared to 48.3 in May.
For the service sector, the index rises to 49.4, compared to 47.1 in May.
An index figure below 50 indicates decreased activity in each sector.
The composite index, where both sectors are included, rose to 50.4 from 48.5 in May.
The figures may be a sign of a turnaround that puts an end to three years of German recession, with a shrinking gross national product (GNP).
For the French economy, however, the latest purchasing managers' index for June points downwards. The manufacturing industry's index in France fell to 47.8 in June, from 49.8 in May. And for the service sector, there was a decline to 48.7, from 48.9 in May.
The composite index for the French economy fell to 48.5, down from 49.3 in May.
The corresponding index for the Swedish economy, from Swedbank and Silf, for June is expected first on Thursday, July 3.
