The NHL team Colorado Avalanche's captain will continue his rehabilitation journey in Colorado Eagles in AHL.
The 32-year-old Swedish captain has not played ice hockey since June 2022. After that, he has undergone a cartilage transplant in his right knee.
Recently, he could start training with the team on ice.
It's still exercises without body contact. The rehabilitation is moving forward, but it's not a linear process. It goes up and down, two steps forward, one back, says coach Jared Bednar to nhl.com.
It's hard to say when he can be back (in play), but everything is going well and it's really nice to have him on the ice with the team. His energy and attitude help everyone.
Being sent to AHL can mean that he will soon be able to play matches and will play himself into form in the farm team before he returns to NHL.
