France confirms a first case of the more dangerous variant of mpox, clade 1b, reports BFMTV.
The WHO decided in August last year that mpox clade 1 should be classified as an international threat to human health. The infection has primarily spread on the African continent.
The first case outside Africa was reported in Sweden in August. Since then, cases have also been confirmed in, among others, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
