Shootings, which occurred on September 26 and 27, 2023, are linked to the internal Foxtrot conflict between leader Rawa Majid and gang leader Ismail Abdo. However, none of the victims are linked to gang crime, instead it suggests that they were randomly or mistakenly selected.

The first shooting occurred in Åkersberga where a man in his 60s was seriously shot in his villa. On the address, a person was registered who could be linked to Ismail Abdo after a long time.

The next day, five men were grilling in a courtyard in Jordbro when they were shot with an automatic rifle. A 23-year-old man – who was hit in the head – died and another man was injured. The perpetrators fled in a white pickup truck that had been seen at the shooting in Åkersberga, but crashed straight into a row house. In the car, the police found weapons and phones and were able to arrest several people.

Siblings sentenced

In January this year, the district court sentenced three young men and a woman to life imprisonment. One was sentenced for murder and five counts of attempted murder. The three others – two of whom are siblings – were sentenced for aiding and abetting the crimes.

For three of the people, the life sentences are now confirmed. The Court of Appeal also believes that the evidence against the accused shooter, who was sentenced for gross firearms offenses in the district court, is so strong that he should be sentenced for both shootings. He also gets life imprisonment, while one of those considered to be an accomplice has his sentence reduced to 14 years in prison.

”Very serious crimes”

”It's a matter of very serious crimes, where the perpetrators have recklessly and indiscriminately harmed and killed people who also have no connection to gang crime. The sentences for those involved have therefore become very severe,” says Mattias Attorps, one of the jurist judges in the case, in a press release.
