Four Elderly Residents Die After Norovirus Outbreak at Mölndal Nursing Home

Four elderly people died at a nursing home in Mölndal in January after an outbreak of norovirus, reports Göteborgs-Posten.

Poor hygiene practices among care staff exacerbated the spread of the infection at the facility, according to a Lex Maria report submitted by the city of Mölndal to the Swedish Health and Social Care Inspectorate.

Staff who cared for infected people also worked in the kitchen and other units. These shortcomings contributed to the virus spreading through large parts of the facility, which consists of 120 apartments in three buildings.
