According to documents unsealed in a federal court in Washington on Monday, the charges involve disclosing classified information to a "person who was not authorized to receive it."
Last year, Comey was indicted on charges of making false statements to Congress, but the case was dismissed by a federal judge. In April this year, he was indicted on charges of threatening President Trump in an Instagram post.
The longtime Trump critic was fired from his FBI post in 2017, during Trump's first term. The firing came in connection with an investigation into whether any member of Trump's election campaign had colluded with Russia.
