This year's carnival has involved nearly 9,000 students and is considered one of Sweden's largest non-profit events. More than 100,000 people are expected to visit the carnival, which also had warm, sunny weather on Saturday.
"The perception is that there have been more visitors this year than last time. Overall it has been calm, but the warm weather has contributed to some people being a bit overexcited," says police spokesperson Patric Fors.
The last time it happened, in 2022, Lundakarnevalen had a turnover of just over 40 million kronor, and this year's edition - which runs from Friday to Sunday - is expected to have a turnover of about the same amount.
