Hundreds of houses were flooded in northern Philippines on Monday after authorities were forced to open a dam as a direct consequence of the severe typhoon Man-yi.
The typhoon also caused riverbanks to burst, which worsened the flooding after the heavy rainfall.
At least eight people have been reported dead in the storm that hit the island of Catanduanes on Saturday and moved over the main island of Luzon on Sunday afternoon.
Man-yi is the sixth storm to hit the Philippines within a month, and the latest bad weather was called a supertyphoon. But on Monday, President Ferdinand Marcos said that Man-yi "was not as terrible as we feared".
