Cocaine has been detected for the first time in customs on Svalbard.
The seizure was made at the airport on April 23, reports Svalbardposten. A sniffer dog had marked his luggage and upon closer inspection, small quantities of hash and cocaine were found.
As far as I know, this is the first time we have seized cocaine here, says Christian Fuglem, head of the Norwegian customs authority on Svalbard, to Svalbardposten.
The authority has had regular operations on the archipelago in the North Ice Sea for three years. Around 3,000 people live there.
