There are signs that Russia has increased its military presence in the Baltic Sea region and that tensions have increased. This is stated by Finland's Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen in an interview with Yle.

The announcement comes after the country's defense department on Friday announced that two Russian fighter jets had violated Finnish airspace.

But Finland's "effective and high-class" air and sea surveillance, as well as cooperation with NATO allies, means that the Finns can take it easy, Häkkänen emphasizes.

There is no reason to panic. Such tensions have existed before in history. We can still take it easy, he says, adding that the situation is "completely under control".
