Finland's president Alexander Stubb, who has had previous meetings with the President of the USA Donald Trump both on and off the golf course, announces that he is traveling to the USA for a working visit this week.

Head of State Stubb is accompanied by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo (National Coalition Party) on the trip. On Thursday, the two will meet President Trump at the White House.

In a press statement from the Finnish Presidential Palace, issues related to "the bilateral relations between Finland and the United States", trade cooperation and "Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine" will be at the top of the agenda.

Formally, the visit will take place on October 9 and 10.

Stubb has previously had formal discussions with President Trump, among other things when European leaders traveled to Washington DC after Trump received Russian President Vladimir Putin in the US state of Alaska in August.

But Stubb has also played golf privately with Trump in Florida in March. The round and accompanying socializing are said to have lasted for seven hours and were described as a diplomatic success for the President of Finland. After the meetings, Alexander Stubb is considered to be one of the so-called Trump whisperers by having gained the trust of the American president.
