Finland is considering raising the upper age limit for reservists to 65 years.
According to the proposal, the number of reservists within Finland's military would amount to one million people by 2031. Thus, the corps would then be reinforced with 125,000 reservists.
Currently, the upper age limit for serving in Finland's defence forces is 50 years for conscript soldiers and 60 years for, among others, reserve officers.
"Finland's defence capability is built on general conscription, trained reservists and a strong will to defend the country", says Defence Minister Antti Hakkanen in a statement on Wednesday.
