The market for premium wines is in decline for the third year in a row. Wine prices have fallen by almost three percent and American demand has almost halved, writes the Financial Times.

One reason is the Trump tariffs - which are discouraging American buyers and investors, the newspaper writes.

The 15 percent tariffs on EU imports have hit the industry hard, and American purchases of fine wines have decreased by around 44 percent this year.

Wine prices have fallen by 2.8 percent through November this year. The finest wines account for the biggest drop, with Bordeaux prices falling by a whopping 6.6 percent and champagne prices down by 4.3 percent.

From 2020 and two years on, the industry saw a steady rise, and wine prices reached record levels in 2022. However, after a decline for three consecutive years, prices are now at the same level as 2020.
