The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has searched the home of a journalist in connection with an investigation into a Pentagon leak, according to Attorney General Pam Bondi.

The Minister of Justice justifies the home search by saying the journalist "obtained and reported on classified and illegally leaked information from a Pentagon consultant," and that the search warrant was executed at the request of the Department of Defense.

The journalist's employer, The Washington Post, states that the journalist is Hannah Natanson and that police seized her work computer, a personal computer, her phone, and a watch from her home in the state of Virginia, outside Washington.

The newspaper reports that police are investigating a Pentagon consultant with the highest security clearance who is accused of taking intelligence documents home.

Last year, the U.S. Department of Defense restricted media access to the Pentagon, forced some media outlets to vacate their offices in the building, and drastically reduced the number of press conferences.
