Falconer Juan Bernabé has had the role in Serie A club from Rome since 2010 and posted pictures on social media on Saturday after undergoing an operation to change his gender.
As a result, Lazio announced that they "with immediate effect terminated" their cooperation with Bernabé.
Defended himself on the radio
"We, and the eagle as a historical symbol, cannot allow ourselves to be associated with a person whose behavior has made a continued relationship of any kind impossible", the club writes.
The fans will therefore be without an eagle at the match against Real Sociedad on January 23.
Bernabé defended his actions in a radio interview, saying "nudity is normal, I grew up in an open-minded naturist family".
The 56-year-old Spaniard has previously been in trouble due to his openly far-right stance. In 2021, Lazio suspended him for making a fascist salute at the end of a match against Inter Milan. Apparently, the club management judged that the incident was not serious enough to prevent Bernabé from returning after missing four home matches.
"I admire Mussolini"
In an interview about the suspension, the falconer expressed incomprehension as to why the salute had caused an uproar and confirmed its political significance.
I did it and don't regret it because I admire Mussolini, he did fantastic things for Italy, just like Franco did for Spain. I admire both and am proud of it, he said at the time.
Right-wing radical football fans are common in many parts of Italy. Lazio, however, stands out in this flora, where the most fanatical supporters' ties to the far-right date back to at least the 1970s.
