Björklöven are back in the top division of Swedish ice hockey for the first time in 25 years. Back then, the league was called the Elite League; now it is called the SHL. Ahead of Saturday's third round of the series and the long-awaited home premiere in front of a packed arena in Umeå (5,400 spectators), the 'Lions' were undefeated. Then came their first loss of the season.
Visiting Färjestad, who were also undefeated before the match, started the game with a bang, scoring three goals in seven minutes at the start of the first period. After that, Björklöven coach Magnus Bogren replaced goalkeeper Lassi Lehtinen with Frans Tuohimaa.
The Karlstad team ultimately won 5-0 after two late goals in the third period and took the lead in a tight SHL table.
