A man with home care in Falun was suffocated to death after getting food stuck in his throat. The man had documented that he could only eat easy-to-chew food, but was still served sausage with bread, reports P4 Dalarna.
Despite the fact that rescue efforts were initiated immediately, the man's life could not be saved.
Falun municipality has reported the incident to the Inspection for Care and Nursing (Ivo).
The municipality states that more measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future, including making notes about patients' special needs clearer.
