At the memorial site, many schoolchildren had gathered to stand together in silence for a moment. Businesses, workplaces and residents who were able to participate were welcome to do so wherever they were.
A 17-year-old girl died and three teenage boys were injured in the attack. An 18-year-old man is in custody on suspicion of the attack and a teenage boy is in custody for aiding and abetting.
A memorial service will also be held on Friday evening, and on Sunday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia will visit the municipality.
