During the day, many schoolchildren gathered at the memorial site outside the school to stand together in silence for a moment. Businesses, workplaces and residents who were able to participate were welcome to do so wherever they were.
On Friday evening, a memorial ceremony was held in Vilhelminaparken. Among those who took part in the ceremony were Acko Ankarberg Johansson, the Governor of Västmanland, and artist Sonja Aldén.
A 17-year-old girl died and three teenage boys were injured in the attack. An 18-year-old man is in custody on suspicion of the attack and a teenage boy is in custody for aiding and abetting.
On Sunday, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia will visit Fagersta.
