Israel's military reported on Friday evening that dozens of drones had been fired from Iran towards Israel. Iran reported in turn that it was a matter of "hundreds of ballistic drones."

Videos and images from Tel Aviv show how the Iranian drones are shot down by the Israeli air defense, but also how drones hit the city.

The Israeli rescue service reports that 40 people have been injured, and that two of them have critical injuries, writes Haaretz.

The rescue service reports that it is trying to rescue people who are trapped in a high-rise building that was damaged in the attack, as well as working at two other impact sites.

Air raid sirens have sounded in several places in Israel during the evening.

The Iranian drone attack comes after Israel's military reported that its air force had carried out an attack on the nuclear power plant in Isfahan.

"The bomb destroyed a uranium production facility, infrastructure for re-conversion of enriched uranium, laboratories and additional infrastructure," the military wrote on the Telegram messaging service.

Nighttime attacks

A military spokesperson reported earlier in the evening that Israel has attacked more than 200 targets in Iran. The development follows the full-scale nighttime attack on Iran with 200 fighter jets.

Nuclear power plants were attacked, as well as targets where high-ranking Iranian military personnel were located. Dozens of top Iranian military personnel are reported to have been killed, the majority of the leadership of the Revolutionary Guard's air force, as well as six high-ranking nuclear physicists.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu justifies the attacks on Iran by securing "Israel's survival" and reports that Iranian nuclear power plants have been hit.

Iran's defense minister Mohammad Bagheri and the head of the elite force Islamic Revolutionary Guard, Hossein Salami, have been killed. Bagheri was quickly replaced by the former navy chief Habibollah Sayyari and Salami by Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour.

UN Security Council meets

In a first military response, around 100 drones were sent towards Israel. Israel reports that "most" were stopped. Netanyahu says he expects "several waves of Iranian attacks" in response to Israel's attacks.

Iran's foreign minister Abbas Araghchi says that "Iran's response to the aggression of the Israeli regime will be decisive and determined." Iran's Foreign Ministry has also summoned the ambassador who represents the US in Tehran.

Iran no longer plans to participate in the nuclear talks with the US that were planned to take place in Oman on Sunday, according to Iranian state media.

At 21:00 Swedish time, the UN Security Council is expected to meet to discuss the situation after Iran called a meeting of member states.
