For a few days ago, the Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat conducted a survey where it turned out that more want KAJ to win in Basel than the country's own Erika Vikman.
I naturally got sad when I heard it. Is this how you support your own representative? But it's also typical of the media to do such surveys, she says during the press conference on the turquoise carpet.
"Felt alone"
"Ich komme" is in sixth place on the bookmakers' lists, while KAJ tops them. In the end, Vikman believes it's between Sweden's "Bara bada bastu" and Austria's "Wasted love". But she is seeking more support from the Finnish audience.
I hope my country and our media support me, because I have felt quite alone.
This is what Erika Vikman says, who in high heels talks to masses of media during the several-hour-long press conference that the turquoise carpet at Eurovision entails.
It's a tradition that the artists, this year from 37 different countries, get to show off on a roughly one-kilometer-long during the opening ceremony.
"More drink coffee than bathe"
Sweden's contestant KAJ was next out on the carpet on Sunday, after the Australian artist Go-Jo.
Go-Jo, who competes with the contribution "Milkshake man", tells TT that he loves the Swedish contribution, but that he would have liked to see Australia win Eurovision for the first time.
The song is so catchy and those guys are very, very funny. But of course, I hope we win, it would be cool for Australia. With all the hard work my team has put in, I want to make them proud, he says.
One of KAJ's biggest competitors on the humor front is Tommy Cash from Estonia. His song "Espresso macchiato" has sailed up to an eighth place on the odds list. He says he's not worried.
No, since we're a bit like yin and yang. Coffee and sauna are two things that people really like, but if you think about it, there are more people who drink coffee than who like to bathe.
The 75th interview
The artist Emmy is Norwegian, but competes for Ireland, just like KAJ is a Finnish citizen but competes for Sweden. She has only positive things to say about the competitors.
I really like KAJ and their "Bara bada bastu". It's so cool that you're sending a song in Swedish, finally! And I actually think they have a big chance of taking it all, she says.
KAJ themselves are fully occupied with answering questions from European media. When they reach TT on the turquoise carpet, it's the day's 75th interview.
It's hard to come up with new things to say, but it's still fun because everyone is just nice and happy, says Jakob Norrgård.
