"After ships from East Asian countries - mainly China, Japan and Pakistan - passed through the strait, we have received information today that indicates that European countries have also begun negotiations with the Revolutionary Guard fleet to obtain permission to pass," state television reports, without specifying which countries are involved.
Since the Iran-Iraq war broke out on February 28, Iran has, to varying degrees, restricted traffic in the strait, while the United States has blocked Iranian ports.
Recently, Britain and France have taken the initiative in an effort to secure trade routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
Corrected: In a previous version there was misleading wording regarding the US blockade.
