The issue has been paused a couple of times due to various statements from US President Donald Trump.
However, after a meeting in Strasbourg on Tuesday, it is clear that the Trade Committee will vote on the issue next week, after which it will move on to the full Parliament on March 26.
In this way, the agreement's supporters hope to "give Swedish and European companies and hard-working industrial workers predictability," writes member Jörgen Warborn (M) in a comment.
The deal would impose 15 percent import tariffs on most EU goods exported to the US, including cars. However, the European Parliament is only voting on two parts: removing tariffs on industrial products and opening access for seafood and certain agricultural products; and a much narrower measure extending duty-free access for various types of lobster.
