An extraordinary meeting of ambassadors last night resulted in yet another compromise proposal that will be taken up by the ambassadors in Brussels this morning.

Agreement is needed to avoid the price cap on Russian oil being raised from today from 44 US dollars per barrel (approximately 425 SEK) to 58 US dollars - which would in that case provide significantly increased revenue for the Russian war treasury.

It's very tough, but we still hope for results, an EU diplomat told the news site Politico Europe.

The sanctions package is the EU's 21st since the renewed outbreak of war in 2022.
