Several world leaders are setting great hopes for the latest ceasefire proposal in Gaza.
EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen states that the proposal is "realistic and balanced".
"I fully support Biden in saying that the latest proposal is a significant opportunity to move towards an end to the war and the civilian suffering in Gaza," she writes on X, and adds that the proposal now needs support from all involved parties.
UN Secretary-General António Guterres also hopes that the proposal can lead to lasting peace.
"The Secretary-General has been pushing for a ceasefire, full and free access for humanitarian aid, and immediate and unconditional release of all hostages being held in Gaza," writes UN spokesperson Stephanie Dujarric in an email, reported by news agency NTB.
"The Secretary-General has high hopes that this will lead to an agreement between both parties for lasting peace," she adds.
Also, Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock comments on the whole thing. On X, she writes that the proposal means "a glimmer of hope and a possible way out of the war's stalemate".
