The Volkswagen Group is holding its position as number one, with 270,767 registered cars in June – a decline of 7.8 percent compared to the previous year. This includes, in addition to Volkswagen cars, well-known brands in the group such as Skoda and Audi.
For Volvo Cars, it was a decline of 11.5 percent to 22,996 cars in June this year compared to last year.
For the first half of 2025, the decline in car registrations in the EU means a minus of 1.9 percent compared to the first half of last year, according to ACEA.
Battery-powered electric cars had a market share of 15.6 percent in the EU during the first half of the year, from 12.5 percent during the first half of 2024.
Hybrid cars continued to increase to 34.8 percent in market share, while the share of fossil-powered cars – which run on petrol or diesel – fell to 37.8 percent, down from 48.2 one year earlier.
