The changes were approved following negotiations between the European Parliament and EU member states. They are part of the European Commission's ongoing initiative to increase competitiveness through simpler rules in a wide range of areas.
"With this agreement, we show that politics can move as quickly as technology," writes Arba Kokalari (M), who has been one of those responsible for the European Parliament's handling of the issue.
Colleague Evin Incir (S) has in turn been instrumental in introducing a ban on producing pornographic material of identifiable people without their consent.
