The order is pronounced in the lawyer's proposal for a ruling in the case where the European Commission has brought Hungary's disputed laws from 2021 before the court.
The laws, among other things, limit the display of homosexuality for minors in advertising and TV. The criticism has been strong, while Hungary's government has defended itself by saying that it only strives to protect children from "pedophilia".
The court is expected to dismiss this argument, however.
“Hungary has not presented any evidence of the potential risk that the healthy development of minors can be harmed by content that describes the everyday lives of LGBTQ people. (The law) changes are therefore based on a value judgment that the lives of homosexuals and non-cis people do not have the same value or status,” writes General Advocate Tamara Capeta in her proposal for a ruling.
The actual ruling is expected to be delivered later this year.
