The Chinese company Senior Material reports that it "has begun a constructive dialogue with the local environmental authority to potentially review its current environmental permit conditions", reports SVT Sörmland.

The industrial company manufactures separator film, a key component of lithium batteries, among other things used in electric cars.

Methylene chloride has been banned in Sweden and can lead to, among other things, nerve damage and cancer. Direct inhalation can be deadly.

Senior Material has been granted an exemption by the Chemicals Inspection Board to use 2,770 of the substance for two years. The exemption expired on May 31 this year, and the company applied for an extension from the Chemicals Inspection Board last winter, but for 1,040 tons.
