"Intertek's board of directors believes that the financial terms of the final proposal provide Intertek's shareholders with cash value at a level the board is inclined to recommend," the company said in a press release.
Intertek, with over 44,000 employees in over 100 countries, provides testing and certification services. Intertek's shares rose sharply after the press release.
The offer of 60 pounds per share represents a premium of 59 percent compared to Intertek's share price on the last trading day before EQT's initial bid for the company on April 9 this year.
