Six environmental organizations are suing Petteri Orpo's bourgeois government in Finland for violating the law by failing to take action to achieve the climate goals.
The organizations note that Finland adopted "one of the most ambitious goals for net zero emissions among industrial nations" in 2022, committing to become climate-neutral by 2035.
However, Finland is not doing enough to achieve the goal, mainly due to "excessive logging and lack of efforts to reduce emissions from the agricultural and transport sectors", they believe.
Amnesty, Greenpeace Norden, the Finnish Association for Nature Conservation, and the Finnish Sami Youth are among the organizations. A similar lawsuit was filed against Sanna Marin's government in 2022, but it was not taken up for processing by the Supreme Administrative Court.
