Engla Nilsson cleared 1.80 in the first attempt and 1.84 in the second, but then fouled three times on 1.88. When the results were summed up, she ended up in eleventh place.
I didn't get out at all what I had in me. I made some jumps in the warm-up that felt super good and my body felt extremely good. That made me not get to my second stride in the approach as I want, I had to trip a little and then I lost the technique simply, says Nilsson to SVT and continues:
It's a bit sad that it's going to be such a thing, that I feel too fast, which makes me not succeed well. I did what I could today, but it's sad that I couldn't take the points to the team that I could have done.
Henriksson near record
Julia Henriksson ran in at 22.74 on 200 meters – her second fastest time in her career and just five hundredths from the Swedish record.
The time gave her sixth place in the heat and eighth place overall in the highly competitive field.
Really fun to be part of such a race. This is my second fastest race so I'm really happy, says Julia.
Petersson second
Wictor Petersson got a tough start to the competition in shot put with two invalid throws, but raised himself considerably under pressure.
In the third round, he noted 19.76 and advanced to the final throws. There he increased by one centimeter before he in the fifth round got a real hit – 21.10, a new personal best outdoors with 16 centimeters.
It felt really good today, the first throw was probably also over 21, so it feels like I'm in good shape, says Wictor and continues:
I wish I could have gotten a good result from the start so I could just have built on from that. Instead, it got a bit choppy. But it feels good overall.
Sweden finished ninth in the European Championship team competition – a tied best placement in the championship that has been held since 2009.
