Power producers as well as the business sector in general have long tried to persuade politicians to agree on energy policy across bloc boundaries, primarily nuclear power, but also the conditions for offshore wind power where the greatest potential exists.
It is certainly good that politicians seem to have come closer to each other on the issue. But it is not enough, according to the Energy Companies.
”For us, today's message only strengthens the conviction that energy policy needs to be dealt with in a parliamentary committee, where the parties get a comprehensive picture of the needs and can present conditions for Swedish energy policy that extend over several electoral periods. Our members' investments do not extend over quarters, but decades”, says Åsa Pettersson in a written comment.
The industry organization Teknikföretagen also sees risks for the industry.
”It is regrettable that the talks have broken down because Swedish industry needs continued long-term investment conditions. We hope that despite today's negative message, politics will find ways forward for this”, says Pia Sandvik, CEO of Teknikföretagen, in a press release.
