The Swedish Maritime Administration has completed the operation that began after a empty sailboat with the engine on was discovered off Mönsterås.
The sea rescue service has been completed. Now it's the police who are looking for a missing person, says Lars Antonsson, flight rescue leader at the Swedish Maritime Administration.
The operation lasted for seven hours until 11 pm on Tuesday evening.
The area has been very thoroughly searched. Six sea rescue boats, a plane from the Coast Guard, a helicopter from the Swedish Maritime Administration and a police helicopter participated, says Antonsson.
The police will continue to search on land.
We will continue to search now today, or at least in the morning, and we have a rescue operation with police personnel in progress, says the police's press spokesperson Sara Andersson and adds that the most likely thing is that a person has gone missing from the sailboat.
